Description of service

The service was set up in 1999, the setting was opened in September, 2001. In 2000. a public interest organisation was founded to provide employment and rehabilitation service for people with mental disabilities.

Aims

Providing residential care, training and employment for people with mental disabilities – intellectual disability and autism.

Our services

Community based care 10 persons (8 persons with autism, 2 persons with intellectual disability) Training and vocational training for 10 persons with disability Employment of 68 persons – both disabled and non-disabled – at the public interest organisation.

Good practice

Very good cooperation was established with local authorities, the local municipality gave financial support for the purchase of the real estate. The organisation also cooperates with the local Public Administration Office and the employment centre. It was very important that the setting is situated in the centre of the town to allow service users and the local residents interact. The setting organises programmes – summer picnic etc. – where neighbours are invited. The local TV shot a 45-minute documentary on the opening of the setting and regularly reports on their life. To upgrade, expand and introduce new services, the organisation regularly applies for funds from the Ministry of Health, Social and Family Affairs, PHARE and the European Social Fund.
