Description of good practice

Proactive projects and initiatives promoting positive links between service users and community facilities.

At Castleview Resources we have networked with the local community through the following:

  1. A local ladies morning arts group uses one of our rooms during the week for their weekly meetings (two of our service users join in this group);
  2. We do the following volunteer work:
    • Local Apostolic - church cleaning society (a group completes assigned duties with this group x 1 every week);
    • Local Tidy Towns – March to June (twice a week a group joins local community personnel to try to clean up our neighbourhood);
    • Local Meals on Wheels (we are the reserved driver to deliver meals to old folks on two separate days every week – service users collect, pack and unload the dinners at each house);
    • We attend Community Development meetings that occur locally (we are in constant contact with local community development officer). We have completed many consultations re: What our needs are.
